Unpacked some more goodies I got from Sideshow Collectibles this weekend. I had to rotate out some older pieces, but I think these new ones definitely warranted the change. Our premium format line just seems to be getting better and better with each new release. Here’s a rundown of the newbies:

Fortunately, these are the exclusive editions and all come with switch-out portraits. Additionally, Gambit and Bullseye come with switch-out arms holding different accessories. The details on all three pieces is fantastic, especially the face sculpts. I believe these figures may employ a new paint technique, and it definitely is working. Here are some pics:

Wow, this blog is collecting dust fast. Thought I’d throw together a quick post with some news coverage from the 2010 Comic-Con in San Diego. I didn’t go this year, but the company I work for, Sideshow Collectibles, had a huge booth. They got a fair amount of coverage. Finally got around to unpacking some recent figures from Sideshow Collectibles. Had to do a little re-arranging, but I’ve got them setup. Unfortunately, I think I’ve about hit the limit of what the office can hold. Might be time to start rotating pieces in and out. Or time to finish the basement. Anyway, here’s the newest acquisitions:

Captain America: Reborn

Last week brought to a close a 6-issue (originally planned for 5) mini-series from Marvel Comics, Captain America: Reborn. The series chronicles the aftermath of the death of Steve Rogers and the events surrounding Captain America #600. I won’t go into the details of the story here, but the mainstream press coverage of The Death of Captain America piqued my interest and got me back into collecting comics. I probably wouldn’t consider myself a true collector per se, as I’m just slowly picking up mini-series that I like. Anyway, I grabbed the camera and snapped some shots of the all covers I was able to get. Most issues included several variant, limited-edition covers by other artists. I was fortunate to pick up most of them, but I think I’m missing three, so that’ll give me a something to search for as I poke around local comic shops. The photos aren’t that great because of the flash, but there is definitely some cool artwork in here. Enjoy.

One interesting thing, issues 1-4 all say “# of 5″ and then issue 5 says “5 of 6″. I guess the writers didn’t know they were going to 6 issues until they were at issue #5. Seems kind of weird, but a neat tidbit when looking at the collection as a whole.
